Three Gallon Margarita Mix

Three gallon margarita mix is a handy thing to have in your freezer, especially when the season is summer.

Margarita Season

I live in central California where margarita season is 10 months long. When entertaining during margarita season, it helps if you make a nice large batch of margaritas so you can focus on your guests and not your margarita mix. With this in mind, it can really pay off to mix up some three gallon margarita mix. Three gallon margarita mix can also come in handy if you have a margarita machine.

Margaritas: The Sweet Nectar of Summer

You can use this recipe in either a margarita slushy machine or shake it in a cocktail shaker or get that blender going. I like my margaritas shaken, not slushed. This recipe also calls for simple syrup. Simple syrup is rather simple to make and is basic to many recipes not just drinks. In order to make the amount of simple syrup needed for this recipe, you will need three cups of sugar and three cups of water. Put both the water and the sugar in a pot and heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Three Gallon Margarita Mix Recipe

Ingredients
·  3 quarts lime juice
·  1 1/2 quarts simple syrup
·  3 quarts, 1 1/2 cups Cointreau
·   4 quarts, 1/2 cup tequila

Instructions
1.  Pour all of the ingredients into a large container and mix well.
Taste your margarita and adjust the flavor by adding more syrup or lime juice.
3.   At this point, you can separate the mix into smaller containers that will fit in your freezer.
As I have said I live in the central coast area of California, which made researching this article easier because there is an endless supply of Mexican themed bars and restaurants here. Chefette and I spent many happy hours sampling the margaritas at every bar and restaurant that we could find. Along the way, I became addicted to watermelon-strawberry margaritas. Although I usually don't like blended margaritas, they became my best friend after I drank about a half dozen of them.
What I would suggest is after you make your three gallon margarita mix, you get yourself a good sized watermelon and a few pints of strawberries. Cut the watermelon into inch square cubes and freeze them. Wash your strawberries very well and freeze them also. Then when you are ready to enjoy an incredible margarita, pour some of your pre-made margarita mix into your blender and add some frozen fruit instead of ice. Blend, drink, and repeat as necessary.
